
Platteville held off Richland Center 80-75 in boys basketball Monday night. The host Hornets played one of their most complete games of the season before falling to the defending conference champs. The Hillman held a 10 point lead at halftime and extended it to 15 in the 2nd half. Richland Center roared back to within 4 late in the game before Platteville kept the lead from the free throw line in the closing 2 minutes.
For the second conference game in a row, Junior Jayden Schoepp hit 30 points. Last night he made 9 three pointers on the way to game high honors. Senior Liam Fingerson helped out with 17 and Senior Brady Dosch added 11. Deakyn Heisz scored 7, Conner Stoltz had 6 points, and Abe Bosworth had 4 points. The team was 6 for 9 shooting from the free throw line.
The Hillmen had 4 in double digit scoring. Grady Poppy had 22, Jauron Blevins added 17, Myron Reuter had 16, and Will Zielinski totaled 12. Platteville made 11 three pointers, and they shot 10 for 16 from the free throw line.
Platteville came back to win the JV1 game, 44-41, over the Hornets.
Following the 80-75 win, Platteville is now 5-3 in the league and 12-9 overall. They will play at River Valley on Friday. Richland Center dropped to 3-5 in the conference and 6-15 overall. They will play at Westby tonight.
