A: The “Musky” in Musky 101 refers to the muskellunge (musky) fish, which is iconic to the Hayward area. Hayward is known as the “Home of the World’s Largest Musky” and is a premier destination for musky fishing, making it the perfect name for Hayward’s country music station!

A: Musky 101 (WHSM) is owned by Civic Media, a statewide radio network dedicated to hometown radio. Civic Media connects communities across Wisconsin through local news, conversation, and music. In November 2024, Civic Media acquired WHSM and restored its beloved country format and Musky 101 branding.
