De Pere organization seeks volunteers to build beds for children

DE PERE, Wis (WGBW) – Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), an organization that works to provide beds for children who may not have one, needs volunteers on Saturday, May 17 for a bed build in the Greater Green Bay Area.

According to its website, SHP has a mission that “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!” The organization has chapters nationwide and several in Wisconsin to build communities, transform lives, and create opportunities for personal growth and learning. The organization builds twin beds for children who may not have one.

The volunteer opportunity on Saturday allows people to build beds alongside the team from St. John Lutheran Church in DePere. SHP will provide all the lumber and tools.

To volunteer at Saturday’s bed build, sign up online. SHP has 21 chapters throughout Wisconsin, including Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Waupaca County.
