There’s no denying the rich legacy of the Green Bay Packers. The team is the NFL’s only non-profit, owned by the community. It’s also the third-oldest franchise which has notched the most wins in league history. Plus, the green and gold still plays on the field it’s called home – since 1957. Lambeau Field is now the oldest stadium constructed specifically for the NFL. Renovations since have added the amenities fans expect while still holding on to the charm of its original bowl configuration.

“I think it’s just what Lambeau Field means to football fans,” Packers Public Affairs Director Aaron Popkey says. “It’s often referred to as the mecca and is on people’s bucket list.”

Listen to the story here:

You can get an inside look at Lambeau Field with an abbreviated tour this week and also learn more at the Packers Hall of Fame and Museum.

But history buffs from the Brown County Historical Society, Brown County Library, and Evergreen Theater are taking it even further during the NFL Draft.

Actors will be portraying key figures from the team’s past. And it’s happening along the Packers Heritage Trail where you can wander through the legacy to hear how it all began in downtown Green Bay. Listen to the stories of Curly Lambeau, Vince Lombari, and many others as artists celebrate and share the original roots of the team.

“It’s the chance to lean into the history, the tradition,” Popkey says.

This unique show is free and will cover 10 stops along the City Walk portion of the trail from the Neville Public Museum to the former Northwestern Depot. But there’s only one opportunity scheduled to take in this live history as one of the featured events planned during the day on Thursday, April 24.
