MILWAUKEE, Wis – (WAUK) – Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Borowski has ordered Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and the City of Milwaukee to each pay 50% of the $1.6 million cost to have 25 school resource officers in schools.

It must happen within 10 days or there will be sanctions and contempt of court charges.

The order comes after months of disagreement on how to implement Wisconsin Act 12, which required MPS to have SROs in schools by January 1, 2024.

The judge expressed frustration with both the MPS board and the city for not complying with the law, stating they were “flaunting legal and court authority”.

MPS says they are ready to move forward and await the arrival of the SROs.

There will be another court date February 27th to make sure there has been compliance.
