MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) — Harley-Davidson took a financial hit in the last three months of 2024, losing $117 million. The legendary motorcycle maker saw its earnings decline, with it looking like a tough year ahead.
The company sold far fewer motorcycles than expected, with global sales dropping by more than half compared to last year. Sales in North America dropped 13% in the last three months of 2024. Being blamed are high interest rates and economic uncertainty.
CEO Jochen Zeitz is quoted in the financial statement, trying to see a bright side, “”The launch of our new Street Glide and Road Glide touring motorcycles contributed to nearly 5% growth in the U.S. Touring segment and drove H-D’s market share to 74.5% in ’24.”
The company’s stock price dropped 3% after announcing the latest results.
