GREEN BAY, WI- (WGBW) – This is Souper Bowl Week! Yes, that is spelled correctly. It is not a typo. Souper Bowl XII will raise funds all this week for the NEW Community Shelter. From Monday, February 3rd, through Sunday, February 9th, area restaurants will give a portion of their proceeds from soup sales to the NEW Community Shelter.
Shannon Cohen with the NEW Community Shelter says it’s a good way to feed yourself, help the community, and help the persons in your community who need it most.
“It’s kind of a win-win,” said Cohen. “We have people that follow the NEW Community Shelter and are very interested in what we do. So, they go out, and then buy stuff from these restaurants. That helps them out, which then helps us out. We love to partner with the community because the community is so huge in helping us.”
Cohen says it is automatic. You don’t have to tell the restaurant you want the proceeds to go to the shelter. All you have to do is order soup.
“This is our big thing right now, which is super exciting,” Cohen said. “Ha Ha. Super! Did you catch that?”
